The Reason for the Season

As the festive season is upon us, it's easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of consumerism. It happens. I'm guilty of it and my bet is you are too. The flashy Santa displays, the endless hunt for the perfect gifts, and the tantalizing treats that seem to appear everywhere. While I adore these things and all the things about this time of year, I believe it is very important that we pause and remember the true essence of Christmas.

Christmas, at its heart, is a time of reflection, a celebration of love, and a season of giving that goes beyond the material. It’s a time to cherish our loved ones and extend a helping hand to those in need.

In one of my favorite Christmas movies "The Grinch" (Live-action with Jim Carrey) the green man himself says...

“Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!” —

I'm guilty of this. When the Christmas countdown is on and it becomes the season of rush, rush, rush, and buy, buy, buy, it's often hard to remember the true reason of why we celebrate this special day.

In the midst of our bustling preparations, I want to challenge us all  to think back to the very first Christmas. Over two thousand years ago, in the humble setting of a manger in Bethlehem, a baby was born who would change the course of history. This baby, Jesus Christ, was born not amidst opulence or grandeur but in a simple stable, signifying the beginning of a life dedicated to love, compassion, and humility.

As we come together with our families and friends, exchange gifts, and enjoy the festive atmosphere, we should all also take a moment to reflect on the lessons of kindness, generosity, and compassion that Jesus' birth brought into the world. Let's make an effort to carry these values forward, not just during Christmas but throughout the year.

And remember, HE IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON.
